I finished reading Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass since it is a literary classic and I wanted to know what REALLY happens in the original books.
I concluded that I like Through the Looking Glass more, and that no Alice movie has come even close to the book. The orignal John Tenneil illustrations are amazing. Though the Alice 1988 Czech surrealist film came pretty close capturing the essence of absurdness when reading the book. And the Disney animated 1951 version is a classic. The most recent Burton version was visually beautiful but mixed the loosely based plot of Looking Glass and Adventures and then made it’s own awful story. Besides, the Red Queen is the antagonist of Through the Looking Glass and the Queen of Hearts is the antagonist of Adventures in Wonderland. DUH. Burton, get it straight.
